UpBonus, part of the international UP group, is a leading provider of employee benefit solutions in Poland. Known for their lunch and gift cards, they came to us with a bold mission: bring all their offerings into one seamless mobile experience.
UpBonus needed more than just another app — they wanted a centralized, secure, and user-friendly digital wallet for all their benefit cards. The goal was to replace clutter and confusion with clarity and control, while also unlocking exclusive offers and perks.
Our journey started with a collaborative UX Strategy Workshop where we worked hand-in-hand with UpBonus stakeholders. The goal: shape a product vision that married business goals with user needs.
We mapped out user flows, prioritized core functionalities, and established a structure built for clarity and ease of use. With a solid foundation in place, we transitioned into wireframing and prototyping — validating ideas, refining interactions, and iterating toward a polished, user-first design.
From checking balances and transaction history to blocking lost cards and changing PINs, users have full control over their cards, anytime and anywhere.
On the backend, we leveraged Next.js 14+ with server components to handle secure data fetching and dynamic content rendering without bloating the client side. Biometric authentication on mobile provided a fast, frictionless login experience, while Przelewy24 integration ensured safe and seamless top-ups and transactions.
A dedicated section brings exclusive deals and promo codes into the spotlight. Users can explore, activate, and purchase offers directly in the app, with all details logged for easy access.
Thanks to the component reusability strategy across platforms (React Native for mobile and Next.js on web), we maintained a consistent design and experience — making it intuitive to browse and redeem offers whether users are on the go or at their desk.
Finding where to use your benefits just got easier. The map filters by category (like restaurants or cinemas) and uses a search engine to pinpoint locations — whether you're nearby or planning ahead.
To power this, we integrated Google Maps and implemented real-time geolocation, allowing users to view their position and nearby partners instantly. One technical challenge was ensuring performance and minimizing API hits — which we solved by building a custom search layer with MeiliSearch, caching and indexing partner location data locally for lightning-fast lookups and smoother map interactions.
"The close collaboration with the Senior Product Designer was particularly valuable and their designs consistently met a high standard of quality."
